When disappointment or frustration hits, you have a choice. Because we have 100% control over our thinking, we always have a choice on what our response to a situation will be. Last week, I scheduled a Facebook class, which was new for me. I had attended a couple but hadn’t run my own at that point. The hour came for it to start, and I was waiting for the posts to hit the private group where this was to take place. Ten minutes past the hour, I wasn’t seeing my posts and knew something wasn’t right. With some research, I discovered the posts were not going to the private Facebook group, but going to my Facebook business page. Ahh, not what I wanted or planned. At first, I wanted to halt everything and figure out how I could restart it, and have it show up in the group as planned. I was in a time crunch as posts were coming every three minutes. I was starting to get frustrated and knew I had to decide quickly what to do, if anything. Instead of going down the negative thinking path of, “Oh what a mess I’ve made”, “What will my attendees think?”, etc., I made the decision to let it run just like it was. I decided by letting it stay on my business page, everyone following me could take advantage of the content and sample a Facebook class experience. I let the frustration go and learned why it happened (I unintentionally missed a selection in my setup); a mistake I won’t make again because it was such a good lesson for me. I choose not to let the disappointment and frustration take over my thought and looked for the good in the situation. I looked for and found the lesson. We always have a choice, no matter what we are presented with, on which way we can go with our thinking. Often, the result may have a better outcome than if the upset hadn’t happened. There is always some good that we can find in every situation, even when it’s not supposed to be that way, like in my case. The Facebook Class I’m talking about is titled, “The Art of Work-Life Balance”. You can see it on my Facebook page, @darlenecurleecoaching. You can experience the class yourself by going through the posts numbered 1 - 24, then follow me and like my page. I trust you’ll find great inspiration and helpful ideas from my posts. Always remember, before you go down the negative thinking path, you have a choice. Take the high road, keep it positive and you will find the good in everything. Photo by JESHOOTS.COM on Unsplash
